まおゆう魔王勇者, Maoyuu Maou Yuusha (Archenemy & Hero) #1 by Mamare Touno,
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

I tried to keep up with this book after dropping the anime for similar reasons. But this just seems to be a really long economics lesson with the word “BOOBS” and other sexualizing bit added in at times to keep the presumed male readers interested.
Also I think the author says that slavery is inevitable which is bullshit.

This book was first put on the web it seems :|
So for the first 80% of the book you only really get tiny little snippets of the blatant misogyny that gets dropped in the last 20% of the book. That is if you can get past the whole onii-san in love with imouto-chan and it does say they are blood related so this isn’t one of the step sibling situations you see in most ecchi and hentai stories.
What’s interesting is this book remarks upon how short the skirts are. It isn’t the first thing I’ve seen to do this, but is it really lost on the author that it’s the author/creator that made the skirts short in the first place...

See the status updates for the individual ratings however this one didn’t really have a lot of stories that appealed to me and some were even confusing to read.

Review: Into the Dim

Into the Dim
Into the Dim by Janet B. Taylor
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So this book isn’t a complete shit show like some of the other I read. However whenever it feels like it’s on it’s way to being good… it has to throw in something that jut kills the moment.

The book starts out with Hope’s mother missing and them both at the funeral since she’s supposed to be dead. Don’t worry, lots of brown people died for this plot moment as the reason she is suspected of being dead is that there was an earthquake in India that caused the place she was to be lecturing at to collapse and of course since she was supposed to be there they thought she was dead...

I’ll start off by saying this book is amazingly boring. Now why would I give a boring book 4 stars?
Well, it’s also a nice look into the workings of the light novel industry. The title of this book should be:

How To Get Published As A LN Writer In Japan, Especially Submitting for Dengeki Bunko

Because the amount of info is staggering. SO much info…. that there is no plot. Not for the first volume. It’s hinted at the end, but no meat really. It’s just one big info dump.

This book was inspiring to keep writing...
