Summary: Serial Killer Higano is the misogynistic author self-insert who wants to punish women for “Justice!” All other characters don’t really matter as he’s enough to ruin whatever good story that was going on. Also Mikage probably read ‘Lolita’ and though that little girls are seducers (not what Lolita’s author intended). Also incest and rape. Basically totally gross.

This book went with the disappointing ending that I knew it was going towards about the time it started. It had so much potential to be the “fuck you dude” book, but slipped back into the “girls only date shitty abusive boys” novels that have already been brought over. (See: Violet Knight, Silver Siren)
It could have had the plot twist ending where she ended up with the harem too and escaped the game. No, she went with stalker bro and even ditched the much better Eita. Abusive men don’t need to be rewarded for suddenly acting decent. She tells the guy a million times to leave her alone and he doesn’t. He only had a change of heart to suit himself. He’s still getting what he wants, and that’s an object to put into his collection.
What gets me is that she doesn’t ever question her liking at ...Read More

I’ll start off by saying this book is amazingly boring. Now why would I give a boring book 4 stars?
Well, it’s also a nice look into the workings of the light novel industry. The title of this book should be:
How To Get Published As A LN Writer In Japan, Especially Submitting for Dengeki Bunko
Because the amount of info is staggering. SO much info…. that there is no plot. Not for the first volume. It’s hinted at the end, but no meat really. It’s just one big info dump.

The rating here is for the TRANSLATION as I read a fan translation of the novel before.

However ViZ/Haikasoru decided to treat us all like we are kids and give it the “Let’s modernize old sci-fi and make it modern cuz people r dum!” or something.
I’m sure the people reading this book all know that it was written in the 80s and that the anime is from the 80s, so changing the fact that Julian was reading republished books to “e-copies” is kind of a slap in the face to our intelligence. They don’t even stay consistent with the changes as 3D television was changed to… something else, however later in the book we are back to 3D displays.
Also suddenly we have to VERY SPECIFICALLY poin...
So for that most part this book plays out like a shounen story. Each leader is super smart and powerful and knows how to out maneuver the regulars only with space ships and armadas. Only a shounen story told more intelligently and without 99% of the misogyny.
Don’t get me wrong. Tanaka’s views are rutted in the past, with the men doing everything and being the heirs of everything. However looking at some of his other works. it looks like maybe his views evolved over time since this was written in the 80s. Even then the women in this book usually have agency, like Greenhill, Windsor and an upcoming character...Read More
